Holy Trinity Church appeared in Coronation Street throughout the 1980s as All Saints Church, Weatherfield — the setting for some of the soap's most iconic wedding scenes.

A piece of television history — now under threat

For generations, Holy Trinity Church has stood above the Irwell Valley at Prestolee. Built in 1862, it has been a place of worship, remembrance, and community for the people of Stoneclough, Prestolee, and Kearsley for over a century and a half.

During the 1980s it became familiar to millions of television viewers as All Saints Church, Weatherfield, in Coronation Street — the setting for Ken and Deirdre's wedding and other landmark scenes watched by audiences across Britain and beyond.

Today, this historic church faces a serious and unexpected threat. Years of guano build-up within the building have reached a critical point. The contamination has caused significant damage and specialist cleaning and restoration work is now urgently required.

We are asking local residents, heritage supporters, and Coronation Street fans around the world to help save this unique piece of community and television history. Your support will help preserve Holy Trinity for future generations.

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. — 2 Corinthians 9:7

Why £16,000?

Our fundraising target is based on a professional survey and quotation carried out by a specialist contractor. The work required is significant: three levels of the clock tower are heavily contaminated, and a fourth level may also need attention once access can be safely achieved.

The total target of £16,000 includes VAT and a contingency to cover the investigation and potential treatment of the inaccessible fourth tower level, identified during the survey but not yet reached.
